Dr John Dickson appeared on Brisbane's 612 ABC station recently to talk about his new book, A Doubter's Guide to the Bible. Introduced by announcer Steve Austin as a historian, Dickson gives a masterclass in apologetics.
That's not to say I would agree with his content at times but his knack for speaking in the public domain in ways that invite people into the conversation rather than exclude them is noteworthy. He says a few things that would probably surprise those who have him pegged in a particular box, especially concerning the relevance of the Bible in non-western cultures.
Along the way he quotes figures for Bible sales which have only been beaten in one year since numbers have been kept. That was 2007 and can you guess what topped the list in that year? You'll have to listen to find out!
