Gemma Bovery tells the tale of Martin Joubert, whose sea change to run a rural bakery is only enlivened by his love of literature. When new arrivals in his village share the names and some behaviours of characters from Flaubert’s Madame Bovery, Joubert is entranced and begins to let his imagination run away with him.

From Director Anne Fontaine (Coco Avant Chanel), Gemma Arterton and Fabrice Luchini are charismatic in this affecting tale that brings real laughs.
