Growing a community of faith could be easier when you grow a community garden.
City or country, there appears to be a trend toward social isolation. Is it crazy that people can be connected on social media 24/7 but not know their neighbour?
However, a remedy is grassroots community-building, and food production is at the centre of this counter-cultural movement!
If your parish has a spare patch of dirt and some keen gardeners, the community garden may be an exciting option for connecting with others in your neighbourhood. Imagine offering hospitality to your suburb/town in the form of a common gardening activity where you can cook and eat the produce together. The sky is the limit!
This ABC Gardening Australia episode has an introduction to the project, and here are some links to “how-to” guides. Dig away!
