Fresh from the Word: a Preaching companion for Sundays, Holy Days and Festivals, years A,B and C is by Rosalind Brown, a canon at Durham Cathedral. This book collects the acclaimed reflections she has been writing for the past three years in Church Times and expands them a little.
What you have here is a wonderful preaching resource; her material for each Sunday and Holy Days draws on the OT, NT and Gospel readings, drawing out themes, collecting quotes and always finding the relevance for an active faith life for people in our churches. She allies an academic mind with a pastoral sense to find new angles on passages that sometimes become too familiar to inspire.
