Scripture is full of moments where it is acts of faith that transform people rather than a deft turn of phrase or a reasoned argument. Of course those are there too, but the idea that actions speak louder than words is the central theme of Jim Grover's journey to faith in this article in The Guardian.
As a photographer he asked to shadow an Anglican priest for a year. What a daunting task bothfor the photographer and the subject!
But what happened as he did exposes a deep truth of faith; the best form of persuasion (which seems like a dirty word these days!) is the experience of integrity.
Have a read of Grover's article and see some of the photos too. It offers the gift of enabling us to see the church through the eyes of a previously non-committed person. That is a gift I wish for everyone, so that we can understand what mission is to be in the 21st century.
And what a great story for use as small group reflection!
